ACADEMIC INTERESTS – European Union foreign policy in the area of Europeanization (as it applies to EU external relations) in membership and partnerships. Dutch culture, politics, and national identity. I did my Master’s Capstone project on the use of Europeanization as a security policy. I am also interested in models of European citizenship and an independent-from-NATO security and defense paradigm for Europe. I am a supporter and promoter of an independent European Union that is free from all interference and hegemony from third actors. This chiefly means the of Cold War, US-NATO led “Euro-Atlantic community” – which the EU is still chained to.
PROMOTE HUMAN RIGHTS AND RELIGIOUS FREEDOM! I also do quite a lot of blogging against Islamophobia, and for especially the religious freedom of Muslims, which is under vigorous attack. I am also proud to blog in defense of human rights, especially ethnic, racial and political minorities, as well as religious minorities, living here in the Western world!
Fortuyn - The source of Islamophobia infecting the the Western world?
I also have interest in the Euro-American radical right, as well as the Islamophobic extremism they promote. I was in college just after the Oklahoma City bombing, and had an interest in “patriot militias” that were abundant in Florida when I was an undergrad at Florida State University. Studying the radical right is something the goes back to my college days – and that now includes Islamophobia extremism that comes out of the Netherlands. I have a hypothesis that the current strain of Islamophobia infecting America and much of the Western world comes straight from Pim Fortuyn of the 1990s and not entirely due to the September 11 attacks.

Hi Eslaporte I read your website about “Eurabia” and found it interesting.But you seem to be making a crucial mistake which many other critics of “islamophobia” do as well, and that is equaling Muslims with Islam.Geert Wilders for example will tell you his problem is not with Muslims but with Islam as a ideology (he doesn’t consider Islam a religion).Your thesis is basically all about how Islamification is a myth because European Muslims are becoming less Islamic and show no desire to organize politically in Islamic parties that seek to introduce Sharia law.That doesn’t disprove that Islam or Sharia as understood by mr Wilders is not a threat.In fact everyone should be against the implementation of sharia law and do so loudly enough so mr Wilders doesn’t have a platform to preach on.Instead we don’t see this from the European left while it should be natural and uncontroversial to do so.

In the article you set out this supposed threat of Wilders that he wants to “deport” millions of Muslims. This is a often cited quote from mr Wilders but crucially taken out of context.What mr Wilders said was that Muslims who engage and want to implement sharia in Europe should be deported.How many he didn’t know maybe thousands maybe millions.So it all depends on how “sharia” adherent individual Muslims are if your article is correct then it would seem to me to be very few if any European Muslims.Which is how many Dutch Muslims also view mr Wilders. In other words as long as Muslims abide by the law they have nothing to worry about.

I’d like to see hard-core data from demographic and social scientific studies that show “islamisation” is really happening. Even if it was true, that “Muslim immigrants” have higher birth rates – this does not prove some conspiracy by 1.5 billion “Muslims” to “take over Christian Europe.”
You also have the problem of defining “who” is a “Muslim” in the first place, since Islam is a religion that people can chose not to believe in….

Can you explain to me why when in England and other western civilisations when there is a racist attack on an asian or black person there is always a general public outcry normaly followed by public protest and marches etc.Why is it that since the terrorist attacks such as 9/11 7/7 etc i have seen no showing of public disgust by the muslim community , no protest, no marches etc even though this is murder in its thousands. Does the silence not speak volumes or are moderate muslims in fear of the extremists also.
